Michigan’s full-court press on 2016’s No. 1 overall recruit Rashan Gary appeared to make an impact.

The star defensive tackle from Paramus (N.J.) Catholic visited U-M for his first official visit last weekend and told ESPN.com that the visit was what he hoped after seeing the school on unofficial trips, not game weekends.

“I just wanted to make sure (from) when I was there before that everything matched up, and it did match up,” he said.

Gary made the trip with his mother and she also told the site she enjoyed it, even venturing on her own to talk to different groups of students and observe them without her son around.

As with many recruiting weekends, the postgame was spent at coach Jim Harbaugh’s house with some of the coaches.

247Sports also spoke with Gary’s mother, who enjoyed the visit and said they looked at the Ross School of Business.

Gary and his mother were able to see Michigan at its best in the 31-0 domination of Brigham Young, a game where the defensive line continued to shine.

He has said to multiple outlets that the only other official visit he has scheduled is to Auburn for the Iron Bowl against Alabama on Nov. 28.

The Paramus video coordinator tweeted a photo of Gary at Michigan Stadium.
