The signs keep pointing to Michigan State in the recruitment of 2016 point guard Cassius Winston, who is on his official visit to MSU this weekend and tweeted that he will announce his decision Friday at a pep rally at his school, U-D Jesuit.

Winston earlier this week announced Michigan was no longer in the running and has a final three that includes Pittsburgh and Stanford. He has already taken official visits to both schools.

The 6-foot Winston, a consensus top-30 player nationally according to the recruiting services, was long considered an MSU-Michigan battle. But Rivals.com analyst Eric Bossi said this week that Winston leaning to MSU has “been the case, from what I’ve heard, all along.”

If Winston joins top-20 wing Joshua Langford (Madison, Ala.) and top-50 big man Nick Ward (Columbus, Ohio) in Tom Izzo’s 2016 class, Bossi said it would be a top-3 class nationally at that point, with a chance to finish in the top 5 after all the top players make their choices.

Miles Bridges, a top-15 player in the class from Flint who plays at Huntington (W.Va.) Prep, also is taking his official visit to MSU this weekend, in tandem with the MSU-Oregon football game and about 200 football prospects in town.

It’s also alumni weekend for Izzo’s program, and former MSU star Draymond Green on Thursday announced a donation of $3.1 million to MSU to help pay for an addition to Breslin Center and scholarships. MSU and Kentucky are viewed as the top two for Bridges’ services.
