Michigan State quarterback commitment Messiah deWeaver of Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne will be taking his official visit this weekend for the Indiana game The Rivals.com four-star rated quarterback has been a major factor in the Spartans assembling an outstanding class and this week he will get plenty of time to spend with the Spartan staff.
DeWeaver is the only official visitor this weekend, but that is for a several good reasons. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound prospect is planning on enrolling in January in order to participate in spring practice. He could have waited and visited in late November, but Wayne is undefeated and expected to challenge for the Ohio state championship. Taking his visit now allows deWeaver to focus on his team as they make a playoff run.
DeWeaver has been very active in helping to recruit other players to MSU and I look for him to try and help add another player to the class this weekend.
Hill to check out Spartans again
Former Ohio State commitment George Hill is expected to take another unofficial visit to MSU this weekend. Hill, who was a teammate of L.J. Scott at Hubbard (Ohio) High, has already been on campus twice this fall.
Hill is a dynamic athlete that could project at multiple positions in college. His skill set is similar to R.J. Shelton and Vayante Copeland. Hill is rated a four-star recruit by Rivals.com and the No. 6 player in Ohio for the class of 2017. West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Kentucky are just a few of the other schools that are hoping to land Hill.
Georgia QB considering MSU
The state of Georgia is loaded with quarterback talent for the class of 2017 and MSU is actively recruiting two outstanding prospects from the Peach State. Four-star prospect Chase Brice shared his story so far on the trail.
“Recruiting has gone well,” Brice said. “I’m visiting schools that I would like to see. I have already visited Clemson, Michigan State, University of Georgia and Florida State. I’m hoping to visit Miami before the year is over.”
Brice was in East Lansing for the Oregon game and came away impressed with what he saw.
“Michigan State was really cool,” he said. “I enjoyed my time up there. It was my first time being in Michigan and I didn’t really know what to expect. I like how Michigan State plays and I really like their coaching staff. Growing up I never really thought about playing in the Big Ten, but I guess my mind set has changed.”
The Spartans are firmly in the mix with three of the top ten pro-style quarterback prospects in the nation for the class of 2017. In addition to Chase Brice, Chandler (Ariz.) Basha’s Ryan Kelley and Norcross (Ga.) Greater Atlanta Christian’s Davis Mills are also considering MSU.
