All teams in these five games this week have 5-3
records. The winner in each automatically will be in the state playoffs (all games Friday at 7 p.m.):
MARINE CITY AT WARREN COUSINO: The Mariners have 33 consecutive winning seasons and are seeking their 18th straight state
playoff appearance. Cousino made the playoffs last year with a 5-4 record.
LINCOLN PARK AT GIBRALTAR CARLSON: Lincoln Park snapped its state-record 69-game losing streak two seasons ago and can make the playoffs for the first time since 2002 and the fourth time in school history. Carlson last made the playoffs in 2009.
BAY CITY JOHN GLENN AT SAGINAW SWAN VALLEY: Glenn has lost four straight to Swan Valley and is trying to make it two straight playoff appearances. This would be Swan Valley’s fourth consecutive playoffs and 11th in 13 years.
ORTONVILLE BRANDON AT HOLLY: This would be the fifth playoff appearance for Brandon, which has ended a streak of three straight losing seasons. Holly, which has made the playoffs only three times, is attempting to qualify after finishing 0-9 last season.
MT. PLEASANT SACRED HEART AT
MENDON: Sacred Heart coach Rick Roberts has 201 career victories and is seeking his eighth straight playoff spot after an 0-3 start. Eleven-time state champ Mendon is aiming for its 16th playoff bid in the past 17 years.
